Huka falls
Huka Falls, not far from Taupō, is New Zealand’s most visited natural attraction — and for good reason. Located seven kilometres downstream from Lake Taupō, the Waikato River is forced from a 100‑metre‑wide channel into a volcanic gorge just 15 metres across. That violent squeeze sends, on average, a quarter of a million litres of water every second over an 11‑metre drop, producing a thunderous roar, swirling white foam and brilliantly clear blue water.
That’s enough water to fill an Olympic Sized swimming pool every 11 seconds!
Our specially built riverboat and experienced, local guides can safely and comfortably bring you so close to the falls that you’ll feel the spray of the water on your face!
